The Role
Are you a commercially driven sales professional with a passion for winning new business and building long-term customer relationships?

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to drive commercial growth across an assigned region within our Liquid Food business. This is a true business development role, focused on identifying new customers, securing new transport flows and expanding our logistics network. Working closely with Pricing, Operations and the wider commercial team, you'll help deliver profitable growth while becoming the commercial face of the business in your region.

This role is home based with weekly travel to the offices in Stockton-on-Tees and Immingham.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Identify, develop and win new business opportunities across your assigned region.

  • Build strong relationships with Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations and Plant Managers.

  • Develop spot business opportunities and convert them into long-term customer partnerships.

  • Identify backhaul opportunities and complementary transport flows that improve network efficiency and profitability.

  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of commercial opportunities, supporting tenders and proposals where required.

  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Pricing teams to develop commercially viable solutions.

  • Share market intelligence, customer feedback and competitor insights to support regional growth plans.

Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • 3–5 years' experience in a B2B commercial or sales role within logistics, supply chain, transport or a related industry.

  • A proactive, hunter mentality with a proven ability to generate and win new business.

  • A growing understanding of transport networks, logistics concepts and regional market dynamics.

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify profitable opportunities.

  • Excellent relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills.

  • Experience working collaboratively across commercial and operational teams.

  • Fluent in English; additional European languages would be an advantage.

  • Willingness to travel regularly across assigned region.

Desirable:

  • Experience within liquid food logistics, bulk logistics or intermodal logistics.

  • Experience with commercial transport procurement, tender management and network optimisation.

  • Familiarity with GMP+ standards, food safety requirements in liquid food logistics.

  • Familiarity with contract management systems, CRM tools or commercial reporting platforms.

What we offer:
When you join Den Hartogh Logistics, you can expect:

  • A people-first culture built on trust, ownership and responsibility, where your work genuinely makes an impact;

  • A dynamic logistics environment focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement and strong teamwork;

  • Clear opportunities for career progression and personal development, supported by structured training programmes;

  • A competitive benefits package, including company car, excellent pension and life assurance schemes;

  • 25 days annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays), with the opportunity to purchase up to 5 additional days, giving you the time to recharge and reset;

  • Great extras, including a salary sacrifice car scheme, cycle-to-work scheme and access to our Benefit Hub for discounts and perks;

  • Wellbeing support you can rely on, with private healthcare via BUPA, Help@Hand and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a key region, develop new business and make a real impact within a growing international logistics business. If you enjoy building customer relationships, creating commercial opportunities and delivering results, we'd love to hear from you.
