The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Supply Chain Planner to join our team. Your role will be to support the day-to-day operation, communicating effectively with third party suppliers and drivers, responding to queries to optimise service levels and vehicle performance.
Your responsibilities will be:
Ensure all operational issues are dealt with appropriately, maintaining a high level of communication internally and externally and taking all reasonable measures to ensure all delivery/loading times are achieved.
Maintain and understand third party requirements ensuring the allocation of work is aligned with potential financial earning guarantees.
Check all transits have arrived as planned and communicate any anomalies to the relevant department to mitigate delays.
Distribute and communicate in advance all operational requirements, including reserving sufficient space with the required suppliers, to enable operational effectiveness,
Ensure relevant departments are fully updated at all times and offer alternatives for jobs which cannot meet booked transit time, gaining relevant approval for any additional costs and ensuring financial impact to the business is understood
Ensure all fluctuations in volume are highlighted well in advance for them to be managed accordingly.
Monitor and act upon units stored on high-cost quays, pro-actively looking for cost effective solutions and ensure empty stock levels are monitored and checked against required target levels.
Job requirements
Successful candidates will have:
Logistical background experience in a similar role, with experience of working with third party logistics and service partners
The ability to work well under pressure, and able to adapt quickly to market changes - internally and externally, with a willingness to respond rapidly and flexibly to customer demands
Excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to build professional relationships internally and externally
Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills
A team player who is adaptable, solutions focused and able to work on your own initiative
