About the role

In this role you will be responsible for setting up, developing and implementing the strategy and the mid-to-long-term plan for the relevant procurement categories within the Den Hartogh group. With the team across the globe, you secure existing and future needed capacity of logistics and intermodal services (i.e. short / deep sea ocean freight, rail, trucking, maintenance & repair, cleaning) against the lowest integral supply chain costs. Pro-active Supplier Relation Management towards sustainable results with the suppliers embedding high safety, quality and operational performance. You report directly to the Procurement Director and will collaborate with colleagues all over the globe.


Your responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve the Procurement strategy and processes of your designated categories;
  • Lead and manage procurement activities for materials and logistic services globally;
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with suppliers and negotiations for strategic partnerships;
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient procurement processes that minimize overall supply chain costs;
  • Provide insightful analysis of market developments and trends to inform procurement decisions to monitor supplier performance in areas such as safety, quality, and financial metrics;
  • Lead procurement projects aimed at process improvement and identifying cost-saving opportunities, challenging the status quo;
  • Define and manage contracts, SLAs, and other relevant procurement documents.

Job requirements

About you 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant area (e.g. Business Administration, Finance) combined with Procurement related courses (e.g. NEVI II); 
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in a dynamic international (supply chain) organization; 
  • Experience in procurement management practices such as performance management, tenders, process improvements, cost drivers, etc.; 
  • Strong influencing, negotiating, flexibility, collaboration and stakeholder management skills; 
  • The job might require some international travel on an as needed basis; 
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, written and verbal.
