The Role

To support the day-to-day operation, communicate effectively with 3rd party suppliers and drivers, respond to queries to optimise service levels and vehicle performance. Take appropriate steps to effectively respond to ad hoc, internal and external enquires.


Your responsibilities will be:

  • Maintain a high level of communication internally and externally and take all reasonable measures to ensure all delivery/loading times are achieved. 
  • Ensure all operational issues are dealt with appropriately, informing relevant parties immediately as required and ensuring that all changes are in the system. 
  • Update and advise any required references or booking information to the relevant operations departments and update the system accurately and on time.
  • Execute daily operational works while ensuring financial impact to the business is understood.
  • Maintain and understand 3rd party requirements ensuring the allocation of work is aligned with potential financial earning guarantees
  • Check all transits have arrived as planned and communicate any anomalies to the relevant department to mitigate delays and communicate non-shipments for appropriate action.
  • Distribute and communicate in advance all operational requirements, including reserving sufficient space with the required suppliers, to enable operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure relevant departments are fully updated at all times and offer alternatives for jobs which cannot meet booked transit time, gaining relevant approval for any additional costs.
  • Liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all necessary operational arrangements are in place for trial loads and sensitive requirements 
  • Ensure all fluctuations in volume are highlighted well in advance for them to be managed accordingly.
  • Maintain OTD within own parameters.
  • Ensure empty stock levels are monitored and checked against required target levels with all static/query units managed and moved accordingly to avoid storage costs.
  • Ensure all administration (including MT buffer stocks / dispatching) are completed for the previous day’s operations.
  • Monitor and act upon units stored on high-cost quays, pro-actively looking for cost effective solutions
  • Adhere to and uphold safe working practices to enable the health and wellbeing of self and others in accordance with all relevant policies, risk assessments and safe operating procedures. 
  • Take all reasonable measures to encourage and support ethical working practices and actively seek to improve the environmental impact.

Job requirements

Successful candidates will have:

  • Logistical background experience in a similar role
  • Experience of working with third party logistics and service partners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to build professional relationships internally and externally
  • Meticulous attention to detail and very high-quality standards
  • The ability to work well under pressure, and able to adapt quickly to market changes - internally and externally, with a willingness to respond rapidly and flexibly to customer demands
  • Willingness to undertake training and development activities
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain information.
  • Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills
  • A team player who is adaptable, solutions focused and able to work on your own initiative
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Able to work at pace, meet deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
